This blog is dedicated to children and everyone who wants to better understand the science that is all around us. I do not claim to be an expert in teaching, science, or any other field. I just have a passion for learning. Please contact me if you have a specific question you want addressed or that your child wants to know. If it is for the children in your life please include the childs age so that I can be sure there is sufficient info to share with them
What is my background...
I was raised by an Engineer and a Biologist. With this base I was taught to love learning, reading and sharing this knowledge. During Junior High I had an amazing Earth Science teacher that turned me from not liking science much to deciding that I wanted to be a geologist. From there I earned an Associates in Geology and then spent some time working. During this time I was a teachers aide for a Special Education High School class. This was a wonderful time for me. I discovered that many parents and teachers did not know how to teach science and did not feel they could adequately cover the topics. I then had the opportunity to finish my Bachelors degree. I completed this in Geology. I currently work in the environmental field and am passionate about science, the environment, and learning.
What are my goals with this...
I have many goals with this blog but the most important is the sharing of my passion for science with children and the adults that work with them. Please let me know of the questions you are asked. I will then do my best to research them so you can give the children the best and most accurate information. I believe the best way to prepare children for their future is to give the a great knowledge base. The only thing I ask if you pose a question to me please include the age of the child asking so I can be sure that at least some of the information is age appropriate. I am also willing (and happy) to answer questions from adults who want to better understand the world around them and the science that influences it. Just let me know that the question is for an adult and I will gear it that way. I look forward to sharing this experience with all of you. Please share this blog with anyone you think would be interested.
